Dr. Oswald Saavedra, MD, is an Internal Medicine specialist who has served Orange County and globally for over 43 years with his diverse clinical experience, philanthropic work and volunteering for the U.S. Navy.

Notably, Dr. Saavedra has opened a free and charitable clinic in Honduras along with his wife and renowned Psychiatrist, Dr. Lillian Saavedra, MD. This dynamic duo has passionately offered free medical and mental healthcare to those most vulnerable believing that all people should have an equal opportunity to live their healthiest life possible.

He founded the Earth Web Foundation through which he has helped build schools in Kenya, Africa, an orphanage in Haiti and also made several trips to serve the indigenous people in the Amazon. His efforts include providing scholarships and educational and housing assistance to women in need as well as shelters for children in Orange County. Through his partnership with Rotary International, Dr. Saavedra helped 300,000 children receive polio immunization.

Following a lifetime of contribution to his community, Dr. Saavedra has helped bring greater attention to health, the environment and education in the Orlando area, thus earning him the title “Hometown Hero” by Orange County. 

 

Dr. Saavedra was the recipient of the “Governor’s Points of Light Award” in recognition of leading lake cleanups at multiple lakes in Orlando for Climate Change/ Environmental Awareness Month.
