Kevin M. Sherin, MD, MPH
Family Physician and Preventive Medicine Physician
Kevin Sherin, MD, MPH recently served as a local health officer in Orange County with DOH where he emphasized HIV care access, health equity and trauma informed approaches to care. He is a clinical faculty in Family Medicine for UCF and FSU Colleges of medicine. Until 2004 he served as a Family Medicine residency director for the UIC Christ residency program in Chicago. He served on a local and the state public health board in Illinois. He served as Deputy Director of the center for Chronic disease for the California Department of Public Health. He is certified in Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He served the last 4 years on Orange County’s heroin task force. Sherin is an expert in health risk assessments, population health and prevention. He has national championships contacts with leaders who have track records for improved individual and group health outcomes.
Sherin served as assistant chairman for clinical programs in family practice at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center and medical director of employee health at Advicate Christ Hospital in Chicago. He served leadership roles for the National Association of County and City Health Officials Board of Directors, American Association of Public Health Physicians, Orange County Medical Society, Florida Public Health Association and the American College of Preventive Medicine.
He earned a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Public Health and his MD from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He also earned an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Isenberg School of Management.
Sherin is a recipient of the Ruth M. McKeffery Award for Outstanding Physician Volunteer Service, from Shepherd’s Hope Clinic, the Guardian of the Mission Award from FSU College of Medicine, and the Gold Humansm Honor Society at FSU. He served as a faculty advisor to the UCF COM students who started the Knights clinic.
